Lowestoft Heritage Futures in the Triangle Market
Use It All, Lowestoft Old and Now Community Website, Food Savvy/Suffolk Recycle, Most Easterly Community Group, Friends of Dip Farm and Lowestoft Town Council all had stalls under the Triangle Sails on Saturday the 18th September 2021.
Lowestoft Heritage Open Days Week seems to have been a tremendous success, again. An amazing amount of effort and work put into it right across Lowestoft, mostly by volunteers. An astonishing 115 events were listed.
Lowestoft Town councillors got stuck in, and pulled together a Triangle Market Day. There were a variety of businesses and community groups, and probably could have been more. It certainly bodes well for the Triangle Market proper, which starts on Friday 8th October.
Businesses in the actual market area included Applewood Acres, Bob's Grocery (RP Colman and Sons, Fruit and Veg), Miriam King (artist), Uncle Sid's Zero Waste Store, Old Felixstowe Brewery, The Stanford Arms, Books and Print, Vegelicious of Hadleigh, and even some street theatre, in the top-hatted form of Paul the Magician. (apologies to any who have been inadvertently left out of the list).
Most Easterly Community Group (MEC) had been busy, too, and had organised Pink Plaques. This is a riff on Blue Plaques which you see on significant buildings. Quite a few places had Pink Plaques displayed – they'll probably be up for a while so keep an eye out for them when you're in the High Street area.
Some may have seen a series of posters about Lowestoft Witches pinned to the Sails' fencing. And then they were gone. Rumour has it they they were littered with inaccuracies, so had to be removed. Maybe they didn't consult with our very own Ivan Bunn, who's written extensively about the Witches Trial...indeed, is recognised as an international authority on the subject.
