    One of Lowestoft's Our Fallen lived here... 


    No 170 in the above picture is the one which has a fire escape above the ground floor. Today it is the entrance to the present day vets in the High Street. In 1932 Mr William Mills had the shop as his Grocers, but by 1940 the shop had switched to a Naval Tailors run by Mr Billy Cooper. Soon after the Tailors the building was occupied by Mottrams Cafe, but by 1958 Dobson Fisheries next door purchased the shop with a view to knock through and make their shop bigger. 

    During the 1960's the shop became M. Thomas, Leather Goods and during the 1980's it became the Copperfields Antique Shop and finally the Vets in 2016. CREDIT:Crispin Hook
