Celebrating Heritage, Promoting Our Future

Not a step, but a stride!

North Lowestoft Men's Shed has finally begun turning a dream into reality. Not quite the reality we expected, but nevertheless a huge stride towards our final goal.

Within a couple of months, we hope to be staring out from the door of a container at a piece of land we can transform into a community garden or wildlife garden, wondering how we're going to do it!

The area is the piece of scrubland betwixt Lowestoft Station car park and our ultimate goal, the building next to the signal box in Denmark Road.

The land is owned by Greater Anglia, and by a complicated path, we're going to be able to eventually lease it, with the only proviso that we make the land in some way useful to the community, and a worthy adjunct to all the great work being done on Lowestoft Station by the Community Rail Partnership and the Town Fund.

To do this, we're in the process of becoming Station Adopters.

This should mean that fairly soon we will be opening up to new members, with a place to meet and a project to complete.

In the meantime, we're waiting patiently for Network Rail to authorise the three surveys of The Stables building that they've requested. We're hoping these will be in process within a few weeks.

Big thanks to Martin Halliday for all his work.
