Corton Methodist Church Corton Methodist Church CREDIT:Archaeological and Local History Society The Methodist Church, or Chapel, at Corton was built in 1873 and opened the following year - the direct result of the Colman family of Norwich (mustard manufacturers) moving into the village in 1869 and purchasing the manorial title of Corton from the local Fowler family, of Gunton. Those killed in action included Lowestoft's own Ivan Flowers who played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Mansfield Town. At a local level Abiah Sabberton (who also took part in tug of war), Thomas Chenery were both in the Great Eastern Railway football team.
