Beach of Dreams and a Walk

Festival of Light has become The Beach of Dreams – a spectacular installation of 500 individually designed silk flags on Lowestoft South Beach on 26th and 27th June.

"Join us on the beach to experience this large-scale artwork that marks the beginning of an epic 500 mile walk from Lowestoft to Tilbury. Chosen and designed by the people of Suffolk and Essex, photos and drawings of the coastline are transformed by artists into hand-painted, naturally dyed silk pennants, each one representing a single mile on the winding walk that takes in this captivating coastline and river network.

Engaging with environmental themes... the Beach of Dreams installation is a collaborative project that asks local people and representatives to voice their hopes and dreams for the future of this unique yet vulnerable coastline.

The Beach of Dreams installation will be on the beach on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th June to mark midsummer and the start of the walk, with walkers for the first stretch of the 500 miles from Lowestoft to Southwold setting off on the Sunday."
