Local shops open late in Lowestoft's Historic High Street - a historic first!
Added: 23 September, 2023Santa Claus hit Lowestoft's Historic High Street on Thursday 10th December 2020, as part of Most Easterly Community Group's Late Night Shopping Event. Many of the High Street's diverse group of independent shops and traders stayed open late to help people re-discover Lowestoft's best kept secret. As one happy visitor said "I've not been up the Historic High St for 20 years and never knew this was all here".

Added: 23 September, 2023On Saturday 3rd June 2023 disaster hit Lowestoft's High Street, but all is not doom and gloom.
145, High Street suffered a crippling fire. At least two people were rescued by firefighters. Nine fire appliances of various types attended. Electricity was turned off for part of the High Street for a few hours. Not only did the flat-dwellers lose their homes, but High Street Furnishings lost their shop and store.
The fire destroyed the top floor, and severe water damage affected the rest of the building.
